5/4/2022

Happy Earth Day to All!
Last week we were able to kick off Earth Month with a fantastic meeting. At the meeting we discussed several ways people are getting involved this season. This included our Parkways for Pollinators initiative, Catalpa in Andersonville, and our consideration of future climate resiliency efforts.
During this monthly meeting we heard from 48th Ward Alderperson Candidate Nick Ward, members of EEC who collaborated with the 48th ward on Broadway Visioning and Development, and shared several ongoing initiatives across Chicago.
If you feel like you missed out, consider reading over our meeting summary or watching our meeting recording. Both are available below.
We hope that you will join us at our next meeting on May 11th!

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

Democratize ComEd Survey
Please submit your thoughts and feedback on the potential campaign areas Democratize ComEd could expand into! If there are any ideas the Research Committee did not think of, feel free to propose those as well. You can find the issue summaries here.

For context, the Democratize ComEd campaign is consider expanding its remit to include additional ecosocialist issue beyond municipalization. While municipalization will always be our original issue and north star, we have built an expansive ecosocialist campaign infrastructure which could be leveraged to fight for additional transformations. The question is: should we do this and, if we do, what issues should we tackle? To help answer that question, we want to hear from our campaign members to see what they think is the best approach.

Feedback Needed for Catalpa
From the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce:
The Catalpa Avenue Project (Catalpa from Clark Street to Ashland) planning is still in its early stages and we would love to hear from you!
Community feedback is needed in order to help make the decision on whether the street should be fully closed to vehicular traffic or if one lane should be left open for through traffic.
