In 2019, the CTA, Chicago Transportation Authority, committed to building a 100% electric bus system by 2040, but the 2022 budget and spending plan for the next 5 years shows almost no progress in getting clean zero-emission buses on the streets. Instead, CTA plans to purchase more than 1,280 dirty diesel buses in the next four years.

We need you to engage with the board and to submit comments telling CTA to prioritize electrification over diesel. Join a Sierra Club & Sunrise training on 11/7 to learn how to give public testimony.

The CTA is kicking off public engagement for their 2022 budget. With the planet and our lungs burning from fossil fuel pollution, CTA needs to hear from you that climate INaction is not an option and that they need to prioritize building a clean, quiet, and climate-saving electric bus fleet for Chicago residents now!
