Hello EEC friends, community members, and environmental stewards. Below in this message you will find the Sept 8th agenda with associated materials, community connections, save the dates, and in case you missed it.
On Wednesday, we are giving space for thoughts and discussion of recent news and happenings regarding the state of the climate crisis with the IPCC report, plus city & state climate statuses. We'll also receive updates and talk about our focus areas and current projects.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

As mentioned in recent EEC meetings, Burton's been working on a project to develop and distribute "starter kits" for establishing native gardens around the neighborhood. That project is now ready to accept participants!
Please see the flier for basic info, plus a link to the request form. Feel free to share this flier with area residents!
Participants prep a site for planting in late October and are provided a kit with ~25 seed balls (containing a mix of ~100 native seeds in total), instructions, and links to more information; participants "plant" the seed balls, then tend to the garden come spring and throughout the growing season; support provided as needed and able.
Get yours to help you transform your under-utilized green space into a native planting oasis! Beautify the neighborhood and become an environmental steward, all while spending less time, effort, and money on your landscaping.
Note: This project is based in and focused on Edgewater.
Ismaili CIVIC (formerly known as I-CERV), is partnering with Focus Humanitarian Assistance and World Relief Chicagoland to assist and welcome new refugee families. Thank you to Allen and the Edgewater Community Religious Association for sharing!
PERFECT PARKWAY PIC-OFF WITH REPRESENTATIVE KELLY CASSIDY
State Rep. Kelly Cassidy is hosting the Annual Perfect Parkway Pic-Off contest that recognizes Andersonville, Rogers Park, Edgewater & Evanston neighbors who have planted beautiful parkways and corners. Click here to enter the contest by submitting a photo of your parkway by Thursday, September 9. Two categories of winners, residential homes and condos/businesses, will receive gift certificates to Gethsemane Garden Center. Winners will be announced on Monday, September 20.
