With 6018North, we hosted for a series of Town Hall discussions with community experts and innovators to explore Chicago’s  most pressing issues to create a sustainable future. The Edgewater Environmental Coalition are community members and environmental stewards. Our mission is to bring a green voice to local challenges, empowering people to build and maintain a more sustainable future through action, organizing, education, and advocacy. We are rooted in advancing a healthy and verdant Edgewater. Town Hall Tuesday events supported by a COVID Response Grant from the Environmental Law and Policy Center.

At 6018North, we challenge what art is, whom it’s for, and where and how it’s created. Founded in May 2011, 6018North is an artist-centered, sustainable, nonprofit platform and venue for innovative art and culture.

Edgewater Environmental Coalition (EEC) brings a green voice to local challenges, empowering people to build and maintain a more sustainable future through action, organizing, education, and advocacy. We are rooted in advancing a healthy and verdant Edgewater.

Previously known as the Edgewater Environmental Sustainability Project, EEC begins 2021 with a new name, mission, vision, and logo. In coalition as community members and environmental stewards!

In 1990, we started as Edgewater Beautiful as a committee at the Edgewater Community Council with a neighborhood-wide clean up that brought together passionate neighbors that cared for our land, water, air, and wildlife. In 2008, we emerged as the Edgewater Environmental Sustainability Project. In 2010, the neighborhood's first climate action plan was completed by an evolving group of dedicated individuals and neighbors. Over the last decade, the project grew into a sustained organization. 2020 provided an opportunity to reflect on our future. A team of long-time and brand-new volunteers came together to dream, strategize, and plan our refresh.

Renamed as the Edgewater Environmental Coalition, we enter a new era. Rooted in the history of our community and coalescing as community members and environmental stewards we are advancing a future of sustaining our water, land, food, air, and wildlife.
